Tips / Endings list


Of course i suggest that you start by going in blind first, but if you want to get to a specific outcome or even see all of them, use this guide.

GFG lacks the option to skip narration and has several choices leading to the same outcome. And to be honest - the fights are not fair. So to save your time, a list of endings is provided here c:

# Soft tips (safe to read before you start)

  • Some choices are added/removed if you keep reading instead of picking a choice - this is essential for exorcism in the second fight.
  • Failing to make an action is possible if you keep reading, but it isn't always a bad outcome.
  • All exorcisms require you to know the name of your enemy.
  • The game is not keeping track of damage or experience. But enemies' state matters (being warm, moist, angry or in prone position).
  • In the first fight there's only one hard fail, but the exorcism takes several steps to do.
  • In the second fight, there are several ways to lose but it's very easy to exorcise. Three flavors of exorcism are available, the best of them is made easier if you exorcised the first spirit - a new spell option unlocks earlier in that case.
  • Currently, one of the main routes is very unfinished - if you exorcise the first spirit but not the second one, you're allowed to start the third fight. Some narration and dialogue there might not fit the situation and some choices were cut to meet the jam deadline. It has a few endings unique to this branch though.



# Exorcisms step by step (spoiler, duh)

Slime: Listen -> Cut -> Listen -> Hydrocannon -> Fireball

Pig: Smash -> Listen -> Get out -> Slice pig (choices are added one by one) -> Prepare to your liking (smashing does nothing)!

Plant: You need to exorcise twice first to be able to do it. See Full Clear main branch" in the endings list.


# List of endings (spoils a lot)

## Failures during two fights:

[E] "Haunted Sord" (cut content, fourth wall is broken)

Try to cut a boulder before you learn it's soft inside (by Listen or failed Banish).

Or try to Banish slime before learning its name.

[E] "Banished For Good"

When Legion is in prone position, try to Banish him.

[E] "Property Damage - second fight" (everybody gone)

During the fight against Legion, use Fire Ball.

[E] "Friendly Fire"

After Legion introduces itself, take no action in the hallway, let them fight.

## Outcomes after two fights:

### Leave Early main branch:

[E] "Disagreement" (cut content, fourth wall is broken)
Banish twice.
Benny may only be Banished once you learn its name in the slime form.
Legion may only be Banished once it joins the team (its guard is down) or by using Cut immediately.

[E] "Unfinished Business" (one teammate goes to the basement solo)
Exorcise Legion, but fail to exorcise Benny (in any way).
Dialogue is different based on Benny outcome: banished or not banished (smashed, fried or escaped is the same)

[E] "Not a good listener" (no third fight, one teammate missing in action)
No exorcisms, but did not banish twice.
Any combination of Benny escaped/killed/banished and Legion killed/banished works as long as you don't banish twice.
Dialogue reflects your outcomes, but the ending is the same.

### Good Intentions main branch:

Exorcise Legion, but not Benny. You may go to the basement or leave.

Warning: this part might have more errors in flow or narration than usual. Most of it was cut to meet the deadline.

[E] Leave (no third fight, everyone survived)
"extra credit" speaks at the end of this one.

But if you choose to go down and fight against unintroduced Plant:
Three choices are added line after line.

[E] "Property Damage - third fight"
Take no action first.
Both Mage and Heavy are immobilized at the same time. Try to Cut the vines or take no action.

[E] "FUCKOFF" (the only way to banish the plant)
Choose to smash the door - Heavy gets disarmed. Listen.
Alt route:
Choose to Fire or Listen - Mage gets immobilized and silenced. Listen.

While Mage and Heavy are wrapped, try to Banish.

[E] "Graft - Gaius' New Groove" (avoided conversation, how rude)
Choose to Smash, Fire or Listen - one teammate gets immobilized. Try to Cut the vines.
Knight tells you the plant's name, but it's too late to do anything.

[E] "Graft - Aris"
(it's there, but is probably broken and unreachable - nearly identical to the one above)

[E] "Mayo" (cut content, fourth wall is broken)
Choose to Fire or Listen - Mage gets immobilized and silenced. Listen.
Try anything other than Banish. Jar will be thrown, but you won't be allowed to progress (sorry!).

### Full Clear main branch:

Exorcise twice and go directly to the basement. Then:

Victim of Grudge sub-branch:

Start the encounter by trying to Listen or not picking an action.

[E] "Headmaster" (success - one teammate lost, three exorcisms plus one implied)
Choose to Cut the head.

[E] "Vines" (lose - one teammate lost)
Guess the sin of Wrath.

[E] "Salad" (Burnt or Ded) (success - one teammate lost, four exorcisms)
Guess anything other than Wrath - fight ends differently, but the general outcome is the same.
Exorcist's backstory discussed.

Polite sub-branch:

Start the encounter by trying to greet or banish.

[E] "Ignore Orders" (success - everyone survives, three exorcisms)
Then consider Grudge or Ancient spirit. Then either burn or contain the leaves.
Exorcist's and Knight's backstories discussed.

Picking "improvise" or no action will move you to the "Victim of Grudge" branch.
